Learning with technology in the classroom

Today we used the Handwriting App on the Ipads. The children can follow letters and words with their fingers to ensure they are forming the letters correctly.  The app will say the letter and sound for the children to hear. They thoroughly enjoyed using a different media for their learning.

First Science Experiment

Year 2 have been learning about Clothing this term in topic. We had to think about what we wanted to find out so we came up with our question - Which materials are waterproof and which are not?

We wrote out our experiment before conducting it; what equipment we shall use, how to make it a fair test and the method involved.

Once it was written I had 18 very excited children ready to carry out their investigations....

We came up with the conclusion that cotton, linen and wool were not waterproof but nylon was.

We had lots of various activities lined up for the children to participate in; Math's games on the ipad,  writing sums on t-shirts, buying cakes with real money and working out how much was spent and how much change was needed as well as trying to beat some World Guinness Records for throwing and catching a hacky sack.
